Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) - Week 4
62
It's Classic Theme Week and the
contestants will all be dancing to classical music performed by 46
member orchestra. The music was actually really good for once. They need to have this orchestra back again.
Dancing With The Stars Troupe started off the night dancing the Paso Doble.
First up: Rapper and actor Romeo & Chelsie Hightower – Paso Doble
Romeo seemed excited to dance the Paso, which probably had a lot to do with the fact that he was going to be able to show off his chest. He had the character down throughout the dance and I thought he danced it well. Great way to open the show.
Len Goodman – It was full of passion, it was full of attack and intensity. Need to work on technique. (8)
Bruno – focused, intense, action packed and six-packed too. Posture needs work, but you got the look of rising star. (8)
Carrie Ann Inaba – there was a lift at the beginning so I have to deduct point. First time I saw a Paso with swagger. That was full of passion. (7)
Reality star Kendra Wilkinson and Louis van Amstel – Viennese Waltz
During the rehearsal package, she was scared to do the Waltz, and all the tricks Louis had thrown in the dance. Catherine Jenkins was singing during the dance and sounded great. Lovely dance, but it was very evident she was nervous and uncomfortable.
Bruno – You messed it up and you know that. There were a lot of technical issues. You have to become the character, you have to live it. (6)
Carrie Ann Inaba - I see that you are trying very hard. Elegance is not much different from sexy, and you need to have more confidence. (6)
Len Goodman – It had flow, it had good movements, even with the skips here and there...but let's not forget these people are beginners. (6)
Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunskaya – Viennese Waltz
He had three days to learn the dance, and it seemed like the stress got to both of them during rehearsals. Music from “The Nutcracker!” He has improved so much since the first week – from boxing to ballet. There was something very charming about the dance. Smart choreography by Anna.
Carrie Ann Inaba – I don't think I've ever smiled that much from watching a dance. There is something so charming and entertaining. I absolutely loved that dance. (7)
Len Goodman – The more I got into it, the more I enjoyed it. I was thoroughly entertained, from start to finish. (7)
Bruno – It was so effective, technically not good, but as entertainment it was excellent. (7)
Supermodel Petra Nemcova and Dimitry Chaplin – Paso Doble
Petra is so sweet and nice that she had trouble bringing the aggression needed for the Paso during rehearsals. Unfortunately, I didn't like this dance at all. She seemed so jerky when she was walking around.
Len Goodman – I would have like more authority from your legs and feet. I am more impressed than depressed. Here and there, it was brittle. (7)
Bruno – Femme Fatale...and that ending, Oh My God. (8)
Carrie Ann Inaba – Petra, you are on a roll. Your lines were all gorgeous. You still need to work on your posture. (8)
Movie star Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff – Waltz
I think he has been one of the consistently good dancers in the competition, but the judges have been hard on him the last two weeks. Let's see if it is different this week. They have one of the beautiful songs from “Romeo & Juliet.” He was unsteady a few times on his feet, but overall I thought the dance was beautiful. I thought he did especially great when they were dancing side by side. The ending was really pretty.
Bruno – Achingly romantic. Thank you for continuing the lines.(9)
Carrie Ann Inaba – When you dance, there is a lot of honesty.(8)
Len Goodman – You've been in the wilderness for 2 weeks, well, you're back.(8)
NFL wide-receiver Hines Ward and Kym Johnson – Paso Doble
During rehearsals, Hines showed his concern for the dance because there wasn't going to be any lyrics in the song to help him with his steps. I thought he did really well, and the audience seemed to have enjoyed it as well. I liked the dance more when they were in hold than when they were separate.
Carrie Ann Inaba – you are in the zone my friend. You nailed it. (9)
Len Goodman – You are the most determined out of all our celebrities. Work hard. You are doing really great. (8)
Bruno – You have the killer instinct. (8)
Disney star Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas – Viennese Waltz
During rehearsal package, she mentions that she wants to improve and break from the pack this week and be on top. Mark's choreography is always so interesting and unique and this week was no different. This Harry Potter dance was just great. I really enjoyed it and thought she did amazing.
Len Goodman – You are a fantastic dancer. There's something I did not like (the choreography). Overall, I liked it because this girl is a good dancer. (8)
Bruno – It was magical, wonderful. Technically speaking, it was the best of the night. My darling, be happy because I am. (9)
Carrie Ann Inaba – I agree with Bruno. Chelsea, you are in your stride. (9)
WWE Star Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke – Paso Doble
My first thought was that this should be a good dance for him, but he seemed to have trouble being arrogant and dominant during rehearsals. I liked the intensity throughout the dance, and I thought he did really good.
Bruno – Chris the majestic...you got the accents so well. Excellent! (8)
Carrie Ann Inaba – You were so connected throughout the dance. Your technique is so good. Look out for this guy. (8)
Len Goodman – The dance wasn't bad. The music conquered you. (7)
TV and Movie star Kirstie Alley and Maksim Cherkovskiy – Waltz
She had a hard time during rehearsals as her hip injury flared up and she was in pain. In the middle of the dance, she started doing something with the strap of one of her shoes, and I wasn't sure what was going on. Overall, a really nice dance.
Carrie Ann Inaba – You are the queen of mishaps. Whose shoes comes off during a dance? This dance was kind of strange. I didn't think you were in it. (7)
Len Goodman – It was ok. Your posture, your footwork, your movement – ok, but need improvement. (7)
Bruno – You have great musicality. Despite everything that happened, I thought you did great. (8)
Overall, a really strong night with great music for once. How did your faves do? I hope you enjoyed the night!
