Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) - Week 7
58This week is "Ballroom Greats" week in DWTS, and the stars will be dancing as a tribute to the ballroom greats. This week is a little different, as renowned international dancer Donnie Burns is an additional judge.
To start the show, the remaining couples are put in to a group of three to perform a Cha Cha. The first team up included: Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas, Romeo & Chelsie Hightower, Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff.
I thought the group did really well and looked professional on the dance floor.
Len Goodman - That was not easy to do and I thought you all did a good job. 7
Bruno - You lost sync so many times.7
Carrie Ann - I disagree (with Bruno). I thought you were very much in sync. 8
Donnie - I think they did a great job. 8
Total = 30
The second team to take the stage to dance the Cha Cha included: Hines Ward and Kym Johnson, Kirstie Alley and Maksim Cherkovskiy, Kendra Wilkinson and Louis van Amstel.
I thought this team did just as well as the other team and actually seemed more in sync than Team Chelsea.
Bruno - The patterns and transitions were very good. 8
Carrie Ann - Overall, great job. 7
Donnie - The spacing between the couples wasn't equal. 7
Len Goodman - Well done to all of you. 8
Total = 30
That was very predictable. I thought the judges would give this group same score as the previous one so ultimately, their individual performances will make the difference.
Team Cha Cha Dances
This week, the stars will be getting some advice from world renowned dancers, Luca Baricchi and Shirley Ballas, for their individual dances.
First up, Disney star Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas - Paso Doble
Shirley Ballas, who happens to be Mark Ballas' mother, was the mentor for this couple. That was an intense dance with great costumes.
Len Goodman - To be honest with you, I got confused over it. It lacked refinement - it was too agressive. 8
Bruno - You came out here and danced with almost too much rage. The creativety was outstanding. 9
Carrie Ann - I thought that was the best interpretation of the Paso Doble. 9
Donnie - You are very together. I was a bit confused to be honest. 8
Overall Total = 64
Reality star Kendra Wilkinson and Louis van Amstel - Tango
Luca Baricchi was their coach and he seemed to help her a lot during rehearsals. She has been improving a lot and her dances are a lot more believable than they were before. She lost character a few times and cracked a smile, but overall, it was an impressive dance.
Bruno - Just one thing, you have to get the frame right. You were hanging on to Louis a little too much. 8
Carrie Ann - I am so proud of you. That was the best sophistication I have seen from you. 8
Donnie - The content of the dance was really difficult, and I thought you did a bloody good job. 8
Len Goodman - I would have liked it to be a little crisp. I thought you did an excellent job with a difficult choreography. 7
Overall Total = 61
TV and Movie star Kirstie Alley and Maksim Cherkovskiy - Jive
Shirley was the coach for this couple. There was a lot of tension during the rehearsals. The coupled kissed again and this time it was just weird. I thought this dance would be difficult for Kirstie and I was right. Her kicks weren't sharp and they weren't in sync in a lot of places..
Carrie Ann - First off all, complete entertainment. You were completely out of sync when you were side by side. I wish I had better things to say about it. 7
Donnie - I really liked it, I buy it.9
Len Goodman - It was fun. As a jive, it was very uneventful. I find little to commend it. 6
Bruno - You might have gone wrong, but as an entertainment, it was superb. It was so enjoyable to watch. 8
Overall Total = 60
Movie star Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff - Quick Step
With Luca's help, Ralph seemed to get more confident during rehearsals, but the whole competition seemed to be taking too much toll on his body. That was a fast and fun quick step.
Donnie - Well Ralph, your foot work was fabulous. I thought you two rocked. 10
Len Goodman - I liked the energy and foot work. Your upper body is a little loose. Overall, you did a good job with the whole dance. 8
Bruno - That was so vibrant. When you're in the zone, nobody sells it like you do. Really, really good. 9
Carrie Ann - Booyah! You're back. That was vibrant and fun. Great job. 9
Overall Total = 66
NFL wide-receiver Hines Ward and Kym
Johnson - Tango
Luca's coaching was helping Hines find the aggressiveness he needed for the dance. He did good overall, but I thought there were moments when he didn't look stable.
Len Goodman - Again, it was a mixture for me. Some of it was full of drama, and then it goes in to a fairy mode. Overall, I liked it very much. You're a good dancer. 8
Bruno - Big, strong, masterful, determined. That was a killer tango. 10
Carrie Ann - You take command of every dance. Tonight, there was a few off balance moments. 9
Donnie - You've got a great charisma. Mechanically, your arms were flailing a bit. Overall, you did a great job. 9
Overall Total = 66
Rapper and actor Romeo and Chelsie Hightower - Samba
Shirley seemed to get the response out of him that Chelsie couldn't. I always feel like he is holding back when he dances Latin numbers.
Bruno - There's one thing - you've got to get the bounce. 8
Carrie Ann - You've got an incredible potential. You've got to focus on your technique if you want to go all the way. 8
Donnie - I have seen you grow in this show and I am proud of you. 7
Len Goodman - The hottest part of the dance was the fire. We're in the gritty part of the show now. You gotta up your game. 7
Overall Total = 60
This is a tight competition with the contestants very close to each other in judges' votes and dancing abilities. Who do you think will be leaving us soon?
